Bk Kids Banking App
The BK Kids App is an innovative solution aimed at empowering teenagers with essential financial literacy skills. The app was designed to be both engaging and educational, while also offering parents the tools to monitor their children's financial activities, all under the Bank of Kigali's umbrella.
My Role: UX/ UI designer
Time Frame: 6 months
Tools: Figma, Figjam, Slack, Google Meet, Paper, and pencil
The Challenge:
My task was to create a comprehensive solution that educates teenagers on financial management while fostering responsible spending habits. Additionally, I aimed to provide parents with a seamless way to track their children's financial behavior and progress. The goal was to design an intuitive, user-friendly app and web portal that effectively served both teenagers and parents.
Responsibilities:
In this project, I was responsible for conducting in-depth user research, creating sitemaps, developing wireframes, designing interactive prototypes, and crafting the UI for both the app and web portal.
The Goal:
The primary objective of this project was to design the "BK Kids App," equipping teenagers with essential financial tools and knowledge. Alongside, the parent web portal was crafted to offer parents an easy and effective way to monitor and guide their children's financial behavior.
Sitemap:
A clear structure was essential, so I meticulously designed a comprehensive sitemap. This visualized the primary app sections and mapped out user navigation, guaranteeing an intuitive and effortless user experience.
Digital Wireframes:
Moving from paper to digital, I created detailed wireframes using design software. These wireframes depicted the app's and the web screens, features, and user journeys more accurately, allowing us to visualize the layout and functionality in depth.
High-Fidelity Prototype:
Building on the mockups, I developed a high-fidelity prototype that provides an interactive experience of the app's and web's functionalities and user interactions. This prototype allowed stakeholders and potential users to engage directly with the app's and web's flow and features, offering a tangible sense of the user experience.
In conclusion:
Designing the "BK Kids App" and parent web portal was a comprehensive journey that combined meticulous user research, wireframing, UI design, and prototype development. The goal was to create an effective financial education tool for teenagers while providing parents with seamless monitoring capabilities. This case study highlights the importance of a user-centric approach in addressing the needs of both teens and parents in fostering financial literacy and responsible spending. The "BK Kids App" reflects the Bank of Kigali's dedication to empowering the next generation with essential financial skills.
